Applications from Bryant Park Corporation for programming and annual special events for Spring and Summer 2021
At the regularly scheduled monthly Community Board Five meeting on Thursday, May 13, 2021, the following resolution passed with a vote of 34 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining:
WHEREAS, Bryant Park Corporation has submitted applications for programming and annual special events for Spring and Summer 2021, consisting of the following events:
- Juggling Classes; Tues evenings and Wed and Sat mornings (all year)
- Birding Tours; Monday mornings and Thursday evenings (April-June and September-October)
- Bubble Hour at the Fountain; Tues and Thurs afternoons (May-Sept)
- Language Classes; Monday lunch hour (May-Sept)
- Tai Chi; Tues and Thurs mornings (May-Sept)
- Ribbon Dancing; Fri mornings (May-June)
- Knitting; Tues afternoons (June-Sept)
- Yoga; Wed evenings (June-Aug)
- Moves with Limón; Sat mornings (June-Sept)
- American Symphony Orchestra; Mon and Tues evenings (May 3-18)
- Piano in Bryant Park; weekday afternoons May-early Oct
- Picnic Performances; TBD (June-Sept)
- Bryant Park Shakespeare; TBC (mid-July)
- Bingo; Thurs evenings (July 8-29)
- Broadway in Bryant Park; TBC (Sept)
- Movie Nights; TBC Mon/Tue evenings (Aug-Sept)
- Ping Pong, Chess, Mahjongg and Petanque; daily (April-Oct)

WHEREAS, All events and activities are repeat occurrences from past years, with the exception of the new partnership with the American Symphony Orchestra; and
WHEREAS, All events are free of charge and open to the public; and
WHEREAS, There is a long-standing precedent for these events in Bryant Park; and Community Board Five has found a significant amount of support for these events from residents and stakeholders in the community; and
WHEREAS, All events are being planned in full compliance with City and State guidelines regarding public health for COVID-19, including distancing, and implementing a required ticketing system when necessary for certain events; and
WHEREAS, Bryant Park Corporation has agreed that when presenting future applications, they will clearly state whether or not these events are occurring concurrently with previously approved special events, and that if there are any material changes in any events from previous years, Bryant Park Corporation has agreed to return and present these changes to Community Board Five; and
WHEREAS, These applications are understood to be comprised only of the seasonal events and activities described above, with any commercial event applications to come before Community Board Five separately; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the applications from Bryant Park Corporation for programming and annual special events for Spring and Summer 2021.
