Newsstand application # 9500-2018-ANWS, SEC of West 56th Street and 6th Avenue.
WHEREAS, Abdul Hadi (“Applicant”) seeks a permit to install and operate a newsstand on the SEC of West 56th Street and 6th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Although the applicant both attended the public hearing and posted notification in the community, the proposed newsstand would be located in a heavily congested area and create an unnecessary burden on pedestrian flow; and
WHEREAS, The items sold in the proposed newsstand are available at a Duane Reade across from it, thus negating the utility of said newsstand; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application to install a newsstand at the SEC of West 56th Street and 6th Avenue; and be it further
RESOLVED, Recognizing that the cost of applying for a newsstand is very high for small business owners and operators, Community Board Five continues to request that DCA refund the fee for any application that was deny.
