Application by 3 Columbus Circle for a No-Parking Zone at the entrance on the West Side of Broadway between West 57th and 58th Streets

WHEREAS, The owner of 3 Columbus Circle seeks the re-establishment of a previously existing no-parking zone at the entrance to 3 Columbus Circle; and

WHEREAS, 3 Columbus Circle is an extremely large commercial building between West 57th and West 58th Sts; and

WHEREAS, The building receives a substantial number of delivers every day; and

WHEREAS, The required delivery trucks often cause significant traffic congestions; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Transportation (“DOT”) had previously marked the location as a no-parking zone; and

WHEREAS, Due to recent road and sidewalk construction work, DOT altered the parking regulation; and

WHEREAS, The Applicant seeks a return to the previous condition; and

WHEREAS, DOT recommends a return to the previous condition; and

WHEREAS, Although Community Board Five generally does not view no-parking zones for commercial buildings as beneficial to the district, the conditions relating to this application present a unique situation and CB5 recognizes this as a special circumstance that warrants the requested street treatment; therefore be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application by 3 Columbus Circle for a no-parking zone at the entrance to 3 Columbus Circle.
