Application from Breastfeeding World for “Latch On-To the Big Apple Picnic,” a special event in Bryant Park featuring a family-style picnic on August 5th from 11AM to 3PM
WHEREAS, Breastfeeding World ("Applicant") submitted a permit application to hold "Latch On-To the Big Apple Picnic," a special event in Bryant Park featuring a family-style picnic on August 5th from 11AM to 3PM; and
WHEREAS, Applicant is a non-profit organization whose goal is to encourage and support communities to make breastfeeding a normal part of our day-to-day life, having held this event for the last two years in Times Square, followed by a community celebration in Bryant Park; and
WHEREAS, Although Community Board Five finds no reason to oppose this event on the merits of its application, Applicant failed to attend the public hearing, depriving the public of the opportunity to weigh in on this use of public space; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application from Breastfeeding World for "Latch On-To the Big Apple Picnic," a special event in Bryant Park featuring a family-style picnic on August 5th from 11AM to 3PM on grounds of non-compliance; and be it further
RESOLVED, Community Board Five requests that the Applicant comply with the expectations of Community Board Five for any future incarnations of this event, and also requests that the Bryant Park Corporation fulfill its duty of ensuring that all event applicants are in full compliance with the policies of Community Board Five to ensure that event applications in Bryant Park receive a proper public hearing.
