Application from McKinney for “Launch,” a commercial event in Father Duffy Square on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013

At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, July 11, 2013, the following resolution passed with a unanimous vote of 38 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining:

WHEREAS, McKinney ("Applicant") has submitted an application to hold "Launch," a commercial event in Father Duffy Square on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013; and

WHEREAS, The event is strictly commercial in nature, with no additional element to speak of; and

WHEREAS, Applicant failed to adequately submit information about the event, including the identity of the commercial sponsor; and

WHEREAS, Applicant was requested to appear at CB5's Parks Committee meeting on July 1, 2013 to present their application for review, yet failed to attend; and

WHEREAS, CB5 takes its role in the review of applications for special events in our parks seriously and substantively reviews the applications in order to provide input to the Parks Department; and

WHEREAS, Because of the failure by the Applicant to participate in this review process, CB5 and the public in general was denied the opportunity to learn about this event, ask questions, and provide input, resulting in the Committee's automatic denial pursuant to Community Board Five policy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application from McKinney for "Launch," a commercial event in Father Duffy Square on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013.
