Has the Gay Movement Failed? Martin Duberman with Jason Baumann
- A discussion with Martin Duberman, whose new book looks at government policies and cultural attitudes toward the LGBTQ community. 6:30 PM at NYPL's Mid-Manhattan Library at 42nd Street, Program Room. First come, first seated. Registration is free.
Thursday, June 21st
Make Music New York
- Over 1000 free public concerts are occurring throughout New York City on the first day of summer, this Thursday June 21st. There will be 28 held throughout CB5 alone. Venues include NYPL's 53rd Street Library, Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park. From an improvising chamber ensemble to Americana Bluegrass, there's something for everyone to enjoy. For detailed information including event times and locations, refer to the Summer Schedule Map. All concerts are free, and most are Rain or Shine, so get out there!
Saturday, June 23rd
- GrowNYC is hosting a free Community Book Swap at the NYPL's 53rd Street Library located at 18 West 53rd Street. Bring books that are in good condition. This is a great time to clear out your shelves, share books with a neighbor and pick up some new titles yourself. While bringing books is not required, you are encouraged to take as many books as you can carry! All are welcome. Event runs from 12pm to 3pm.
