Two Chances to Recycle Your Electronics in September

Here are two opportunities this upcoming month to clear out your closets and cupboards in order to find a better home for those electronics and other hard-to-recycle items that you haven't gotten rid of yet.

Wednesday, September 12th

Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) is hosting an electronics recycling drive in Duffy Square on Wednesday, September 12th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.   This event is open to everyone.   Please refer to this flier for more information on what is and is not accepted (hint: no hazardous materials please!).  Working electronics will be put to good use.  iPods, for example,  will be donated to the Broadway Alzheimer's iPod Drive.  More information is available here.

Sunday, September 23rd

The NYC Department of Sanitation is holding a SAFE Disposal Event (Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, and Electronics) in the North Plaza of Union Square on Sunday September 23rd from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to give residents an opportunity to drop off their harmful household products safely.  Acceptable items include electronics as well as paint, chemicals, thermometers, cosmetics and automotive products.  A detailed list of items and how to handle them is available here.    This event is accessible by car and will take place rain or shine!
