Consents and Variances

Reviews applications for health club facilities, newsstands, sidewalk cafes, street fairs, street name changes and other items requiring variances.

Education, Housing & Human Services

Reviews proposals for the provisions of social services in the district, monitors and mediates conflicts between social services providers and neighborhood residents, and reviews housing issues in the district. Reviews and evaluates youth and education programs and needs in the district.

Landmarks

Reviews proposals that would grant landmark status to buildings and also reviews any alterations to landmarked buildings or buildings in historic districts.

Land Use and Zoning

Reviews applications for special permits and variances from the Zoning Resolution and changes to the Zoning Resolution.

Parks

Reviews proposals for the use, restoration and maintenance of the district's parks, including Central Park. Reviews applications for special uses of the parks.

Public Safety and Quality of Life

Reviews liquor license and cabaret applications for establishments located in the district. Reviews problems relating to the quality of life in the district.

Transportation and Environment

Reviews applications relating to streets and sidewalks including bus shelters, taxi stands, parking changes, bus route changes and other items relating to transportation. Reviews and monitors environmental policies.
